Dying and Returning. Robert McDermott, a former president of Anthroposophy NYC, is professor emeritus, Baruch College, CUNY, president emeritus and professor emeritus, California Institute of Integral Studies, author of Steiner and Kindred Spirits (2021) and editor of The Essential Aurobindo and The New Essential Steiner. Speaking about his book in progress, Dying and Returning, Robert will discuss death and afterlife in world religions, in the writings of Sri Aurobindo and Rudolf Steiner, and in near death experience research. Conversation will follow.

Crossing the Veil and Coming Back to Life. Robert Cornett’s ensemble theater piece, directed by Ted Pugh, is based on the true stories of people who have reported near death experiences. All have been declared clinically dead or have experienced a medical crisis that brought them to the edge of death. Upon their return to everyday consciousness, they describe profound experiences and visions of life in the post-mortem realms and the challenges of sharing the experience with others and integrating it into their lives. Their remarkable and powerful stories convey to audiences a sense of the beauty, wonder and hope about what the continuity of consciousness and life after death may be like.

Ensemble:  Eddie Allen, Robert Cornett, Berenika Lehrman, Laurie Portocarrero, Vincent Roppolo, with music by Christina Porkert

A sampling of reactions…

Crossing the Veil and Coming Back Again gives us insights into our true selves and the reason we are here on Earth — to learn to love and to do our part to turn Earth into a planet of love. This production really speaks to the heart.”  — Robert and Suzanne Mays, NDE researchers, International Association of Near Death Studies

“Watching “Crossing the Veil and Coming Back Again” was life changing for me…Having seen this play, I find my perspective on life and death has widened and deepened. I hope that many, many people get to see this play.”

“I recently saw an Amherst, MA performance of Beyond the Veil.  Having watched many videos of people’s near death experiences, and read some on the topic, I frankly wasn’t sure it would be worth my time and the long drive on a cold, wet night. But I found a deep sense of gratitude and peaceful reassurance swelling up in me as these stories unfolded.  The play was, for me, an invaluable reminder of the importance of maintaining a perspective beyond daily concerns, and cherishing our chance to respect and love each other, even amidst dire circumstances.”

“I found the play Crossing the Veil to be an intimate and impactful experience that has stayed with me for days… Deeply moving!”
