Enchanted New York
Sunday, May 1st at 1:30–2:30 (talk, onsite and Zoomed), 2:30–3:30 (walk, live onsite)
Among Manhattan’s many enchantments is its rich history of esoteric spiritual activity, including being the birthplace of Theosophy – the exoteric foundation of the Anthroposophical Society. In this combination talk/walk, we’ll reflect on a suite of distinctly New York characters and places – including some of America’s first Anthroposophists – who contributed to the 20th century unfolding of a “Columbian” spiritual stream, and also imagine together some “Philadelphian” (aka 6th post-Atlantean) possibilities for Gotham.
We’ll walk from the Branch to Union Square, down Broadway to Washington Square, then amble along MacDougal and Bleeker to Mulberry tofinish at the Old Basilica of Saint Patrick’s, exploring both the past and the potential future of our always prodigious, sometimes prodigal isle.
Hope to see you soon!
Walter (for the Council)
