Rudolf Steiner’s Calendar of the Soul, Verse 8
Introduced by Don Bartlett
Es wächst der Sinne Macht
Im Bunde mit der Götter Schaffen,
Sie drückt des Denkens Kraft
Zur Traumes Dumpfheit mir herab.
Wenn Göttlich Wesen
Sich meiner Seele einen will,
Muss menschlich Denken
Im Traumessein sich still bescheiden.
The senses’ might grows strong
In union with the god’s creative work;
It presses down my power of thought
Into dreamlike dullness.
Whenever godly being
Would with my soul commune,
Then must my human thinking
Abide in humble dream.
(trans. John F. Gardner)
In Verse 8 We are reminded of the powerful spiritual event: Pentecost. Previous to this event existed the Mystery of Golgotha. The Christ’s deed was a ‘Universal’ one, redeeming the etheric and the physical bodies in evolution.
Christ promised the bringing of the Holy Spirit to mankind.
The Holy Spirit arrives in the room where the Apostles are staying. The everyday thinking/feeling is set aside. And the higher form of consciousness (gift) is bestowed upon them during this Pentecost event.
We are given the opportunity today during our meditations, to put aside dull thinking and feeling, allowing the Holy Spirit to bestow enlightenment (mystery of creativity et al) upon us. This represents ‘individual’ preparation. It occurs based upon pure merit.
